Camponotus erythropus Pergande, 1893: 28 (s.w.) MEXICO (Baja California). Neotropic.
Primary type information: Primary type material: syntype major and minor workers (numbers not stated, “many”). Primary type localities: Mexico: Baja California, San Esteban, San Jorge, El Paraiso, San Julio, San José de Gracias, and San José del Cabo (G. Eisen & C.D. Haines). Primary type depositories: CASC, MHNG, USNM (perhaps also MCZC). Type notes: MacKay, 2025: 285, cites syntype specimens in CASC, MHNG, but says that many of the CASC types he cites may not be real types since they do not come from the type locality of Cabo San Lucas, a locality not cited in the original description.
