Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype worker. Primary type locality: Brazil: Goias, Campinas, 6.x.1928 (P.J.S. Schwarzmaier). Primary type depository: IBSP. Type notes: 1) Mônica Antunes Ulysséa says that the holotype is currently in MZSP (October 2024). 2) Lattke, 2011: 184, comments that abundant Schwarzmaier material from the type locality is present in MZSP.

Status as species: Kempf, 1972b: 132; Bolton, 1995b: 232.
