Primary type information: Primary type material: neotype worker (by designation of Seifert & Schultz, 2009b: 260). Primary type locality: neotype France: FRA: 44.073°N, 7.295°E, St Martin Vesubie, Cime de la Palu, 2058 m., 14.v.2002-108 (R. Schultz). Primary type depository: SMNG. Type notes: 1) Original type data: worker(s) “Habitat in Gallia”, no indication of number of specimens. 2) Betrem, 1955a: 293, and Zimsen, 1964: 424, cite 1 Fabricius specimen in ZMUK, but according to Seifert & Schultz, 2009b: 260, this specimen (now in ZMUC) is not Formica rufibarbis. 3) Other specimens from the neotype series are in RSCG, SMNG.
