Etymology Littauer, 2025: Table 1: The specific name mediorubra is adjectival, meaning “medium red”. In Monomorium (neuter), the feminine form rubra is incorrect, as the neuter form is rubrum. Under recombination with Chelaner (masculine), mandatory gender agreement (Art. 31.2) requires the form medioruber.
