Formica fervens Drury, 1782: 58, pl. 42, fig. 3 (q.) NICARAGUA/HONDURAS. Nearctic.
Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype queen. Primary type locality: Nicaragua/Honduras: “Mosquito Shore, bottom of the Bay of Mexico” (no collector’s name). Primary type depository: unknown. Type notes: 1) Drury, 1782: 58, does not give the name of the species at the description, but it is entered in his index as, “pl. xlii, fig. 3. Fervens. Class Hym. Genus. Form.” 2) According to Horn & Kahle, 1935: 62, Drury’s collection was auctioned in London, in 1805, by J.C. Stevens; parts of the collection are in BMNH.
