Primary type information: Primary type material: lectotype queen (by designation of Wetterer et al., 2007: 24). Primary type locality: lectotype Portugal: Madeira, Ribeira Brava (P.E. Schmitz). Primary type depository: MHNG. Secondary type information: Secondary type material: 16 paralectotype workers, 14 paralectotype queens. Secondary type locality: same as for lectotype. Secondary type depository: MHNG. Type notes: 1) The original description does not mention queens. 2) Shattuck, 1994: 144, cites 43 worker syntypes in MCZC, MHNG, NHMB. 3) Seifert, 2012a: 140, cites 16 worker, 14 queen paralectotypes in MHNG. 4) Wetterer et al., 2007: 24, mention some paralectotypes from Curral (presumably Curral das Freiras (Camara de Lobos)), a locality not mentioned in the original description.
