Primary type information: Primary type material: syntype (?) workers. Primary type locality: French Guiana: Cayenne. Primary type depository: “whereabouts unknown”, according to Taylor & Brown, 1985: 5. Type notes: 1) No indication of number of specimens is given. 2) Type locality corrected to Australia by Roger, 1861a: 35. 3) Fabricius material is mostly in ZMUC and ZMUK; Banks material described by Fabricius is in BMNH. According to Horn & Kahle, 1935: 71, other material exists in OXUM and MNHN, and in very badly damaged condition in ZMUK; Zimsen, 1964: 428, records 2 specimens in ZMUK, without comment on their condition.
