Primary type information: Type-material: lectotype worker (by designation of Taylor & Alpert, 2016: 514). Type-locality: lectotype Sri Lanka (“Ceylon”): Hantana [07°19’N, 80°34’E], 3000-4000 ft, 2.xii.1912, no. 4238 (O. John). Type-depository: SIZK. Secondary type information: Paratype-material: 1 paralectotype worker, 1 paralectotype queen. Paratype-locality: same as for lectotype. Paratype-depository: SIZK. Type notes: A male syntype included in the original description is not mentioned by Taylor & Alpert.
